Join us at our home away from home, The Hive, for our 4th annual Winter Blacksmithing Conference. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the craft and meet other local smiths! We will have presentations, forging activities, merch, food, raffles, and Steve McGrew’s extensive blacksmithing library on-site to peruse during the event! This is a FREE event for CFI members!

CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

12:00 – 1:30 Club Chain Forging Activity. Forge a 3 – 4” link in the club’s chain, which once long enough will serve as a partition at demos. Keep it simple or add some flair and add it to the chain!
1:00 – 1:30 Blacksmithing Trivia! Test your knowledge for a chance to win CFI merch!
1:30 2025 in Review, Special Award presentation presented by Mallory Battista, CFI President
2:00 Raffles, and Engineering for Non-Engineers presented by Ryan Faulkner
3:00 Raffles, and Historical Armor Construction and Its History presented by Jason Grimes
4:00 Raffles, and Ironwork Gallery Roundtable Discussion Please bring ironwork you’ve made, are in the process of making, (or even something that someone else made) to discuss with the group!
4:30 Forges back on! Last chance to make a chain link!
5:00 One-Heat Nail Competition. Make the best one-heat nail to win “The Golden Spike!”
5:30 Final raffles, and Conference Closes

Every attendee will have the opportunity to earn up to 5 free raffle tickets, to be entered in any of several raffles throughout the day. Prizes include goodies from Alcobra and Blacksmiths Depot, ironwork by members, coal and steel, blacksmithing books, and more!

- Attending the conference (1)
- Forging a link for the club chain (1)
- Bringing a piece of ironwork for the conference gallery/roundtable discussion (1)
- Filling out the club membership survey (1)
- Wearing CFI merch, including merch purchased at the conference (1)

1-YEAR MEMBERSHIP & CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
If you would like to attend the conference but are financially unable to support the club with dues at this time, please email our Scholarship Chair, Annica, at scholarships@columbiafireandiron.org. It is important to us that everyone be able to access the blacksmithing education that we offer, so we are working to provide a few scholarship spots at our events on an as-needed basis.
CFI is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit and is entirely volunteer run. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
